ColorSnap lets you capture colors from the world around you. Point your camera at anything to pick a color from a live view or a captured image, then build and save palettes and gradients.

  • On-Device Processing - Camera frames are analyzed right on your device
  • No Photo Upload - Your photos and camera content never reach our servers
  • Local Palettes - Saved colors and gradients stay on your device
  • No Account Needed - Start picking colors right away

ColorSnap is free and supported by advertisements. We use trusted third-party services (Google AdMob, Firebase Analytics, and Firebase Crashlytics) for advertising, usage analytics, and crash reporting.

By using ColorSnap, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

2 Information We Collect

A) Information You Provide

Privacy-first approach:

  • ✅ No account registration required
  • ✅ No personal information requested (name, email, phone, address)
  • ✅ No photo uploads - camera content is never sent to our servers
  • ✅ Your palettes stay yours - saved colors, palettes, and gradients are stored locally on your device

Colors, palettes, and gradients you create or save are not transmitted to us. If you uninstall the app or clear its data, this information is permanently deleted.

B) Camera Content

📸 Camera Access Core Feature

Purpose: To let you pick colors from a live camera view or a captured image

How it works:

  • Camera frames and images are processed entirely on your device to detect colors
  • Only the color values you pick are kept - and only if you choose to save them
  • The app accesses the camera only while you are actively picking a color

We do not upload, store, or share your photos or camera content on our servers.

C) Automatically Collected Information

Our third-party service providers collect limited technical data (NOT your photos or camera content):

🎯 Google AdMob (Advertising)

Purpose: Display advertisements to support the free app

What's collected:

  • Advertising identifiers (IDFA on iOS, AAID on Android)
  • Device information (model, OS version)
  • Ad interaction data, used to serve and measure ads

📊 Firebase Analytics

Purpose: Understand app usage in order to improve the app

What's collected:

  • Device model and operating system version
  • App version and language
  • General usage events (screens viewed, features used)

This data is aggregated and used to improve app stability and performance.

NOT collected: Your photos, camera frames, or saved palettes

Purpose: Detect and fix crashes and technical issues

What's collected:

  • Crash logs and stack traces
  • Device model and OS version
  • App version and state at crash

3 App Permissions

The app requests the following permissions:

📸 Camera (Required)

  • Why we need it: Required to pick colors from the camera and images - this is the core function of the app
  • How it's used: Camera frames are analyzed on your device to detect color values
  • Your control: You can revoke the camera permission at any time in your device settings; some features will be unavailable without it
  • Privacy: Nothing captured by the camera is uploaded to our servers

🌐 Internet / Network (Required)

  • Why we need it: Required to load advertisements and send analytics and crash reports
  • How it's used: Downloads ads and sends anonymous diagnostic data to improve the app
  • Note: Color picking itself happens on your device and does not depend on a network connection

✅ The app does NOT request access to your:

Microphone • Contacts • Location • Files

4 How We Use Information

Information is used to:

  • Provide core functionality - color picking from the camera and saved palettes
  • Analyze usage and improve the app (Firebase Analytics)
  • Diagnose and fix crashes and technical issues (Crashlytics)
  • Display and measure advertisements (AdMob)

⚠️ What We DO NOT Do

  • We do NOT upload your photos or camera content to any server
  • We do NOT store or share the images you point the camera at
  • We do NOT transmit your saved palettes - they live on your device only
  • We do NOT sell your personal information - ever

5 Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information.

Information may be processed by the third-party services we use:

  • Google Firebase (Analytics & Crashlytics)
  • Google AdMob (advertising)

These providers process data according to their own privacy policies.

Your photos and palettes are NEVER shared. Camera content is processed on your device, and saved colors remain exclusively on your device. We have no access to them.

6 Advertising, Tracking & Your Choices

Personalized vs Non-Personalized Ads

ColorSnap is free and displays ads through Google AdMob:

  • Personalized ads: Based on your interests and activity (requires consent in EEA/UK/Switzerland)
  • Non-personalized ads: Generic ads not based on your behavior

In regions requiring consent (EEA, UK, Switzerland), Google's Consent Management Platform will ask for your permission before personalizing ads.

iOS App Tracking Transparency (ATT)

On iOS 14.5 and later, Apple requires apps to ask permission before tracking you across other apps and websites.

  • If you grant permission: Ads may be more relevant to your interests
  • If you decline: Ads will still appear but won't be personalized

Change this anytime in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking

Opt-Out Controls

Android:

  • Go to Settings → Google → Ads
  • Enable "Opt out of Ads Personalization"
  • Or reset your Advertising ID

iOS:

  • Go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking
  • Disable tracking for ColorSnap
  • Or reset your Advertising Identifier in Settings → Privacy → Apple Advertising

Google Ad Settings: Visit adssettings.google.com to manage your preferences.

7 Data Retention

  • Saved colors and palettes: Remain on your device until you delete them or uninstall the app
  • Camera frames and images: Processed on your device and not retained by us at any point
  • Analytics data: Retained by Firebase according to their retention policies
  • Crash reports: Retained by Crashlytics according to their retention policies
  • Advertising data: Retained by AdMob according to Google's policies

When you uninstall the app, third-party data collection stops immediately and your locally stored colors and palettes are removed with it.

8 Security

We take reasonable measures to protect information handled by the app:

  • On-device processing: Camera frames never leave your device
  • Local-only storage: Saved palettes are stored on your device, not on our servers
  • Device-level security: Your saved data is protected by your device's built-in security (encryption, lock screen, etc.)
  • HTTPS encryption: All network communications (ads, analytics) use secure, encrypted connections
  • Trusted providers: We only use reputable services (Google/Firebase) with strong security practices
  • Minimal data collection: We only collect what's necessary for app functionality

However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9 Your Choices

  • Disable personalized ads through your device's advertising settings
  • Revoke the camera permission in device settings at any time
  • Uninstall the app to remove locally stored data
  • Delete individual palettes within the app whenever you like

10 Children's Privacy

ColorSnap is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at ehlb.dev@gmail.com so we can remove it.

Age requirements:

  • United States: 13 years old
  • European Union: 16 years old (or as specified by member state)
  • Other regions: Minimum age as required by local law

11 Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect:

  • Changes in our data practices
  • New features or services
  • Changes in applicable laws
  • Updates to third-party services

Changes will be reflected by updating the Effective Date at the top of this policy. The updated policy will be posted on this page.
